Shanti Aid's Inspiring Chai & Chat with Sandie Basra

news item

Shanti Aid’s recent Chai & Chat was a powerful and emotional event, thanks to our special guest, Sandie Basra. Sandie’s bravery in sharing her lived experience resonated deeply with our service users. Her story of overcoming challenges and launching her own makeup business was truly inspiring, leaving not a dry eye in the room.

But Sandie’s generosity didn’t stop there. She also treated one of our service users to a personalized makeup demonstration, including winged eyeliner and false eyelash application. Not only did Sandie share her skills, but she also gifted the products used, offering a welcome boost of confidence.

Sandie also took the opportunity to connect with the future generation. Three law students from the University of Birmingham attended the event. Two of these young women, inspired by Sandie’s story, revealed their own experiences as children of domestic violence. They expressed a strong desire to volunteer with Shanti Aid over the summer break, adding their voices and support to our cause.

We are incredibly grateful to Sandie Basra (@sandibasra) for her compassion, knowledge, and unwavering support. Her presence made a profound impact on everyone who attended.

Thank you, Sandie!
