Each year between 25 November and 10 December, organisations around the world mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign dedicated to raising awareness and inspiring action to end violence against women and girls.
During the campaign, Shanti Aid highlights the many forms abuse can take and the impact it has on individuals, families and communities. Our awareness series explores issues including domestic abuse, financial abuse, coercive control, online abuse, honour-based violence, stalking and harassment, while also remembering victims whose stories remind us why this work matters.
The campaign also emphasises the importance of challenging harmful attitudes, supporting frontline services, and investing in early intervention to recognise and address abuse sooner.
At Shanti Aid, awareness must lead to action. Through our workshops, wellbeing sessions, life-skills training and community spaces such as Chai & Chats, we support women to rebuild confidence, access support, and move forward with strength and independence.
While the 16 Days of Activism provides an important moment to focus attention on gender-based violence, our commitment to supporting women and advocating for change continues throughout the year.
